16 years. That is how long Derrick Nix had been on the coaching staff at Ole Miss. He outlasted former head coaches at the school Houston Nutt, Hugh Freeze, and Matt Luke.

Nix now works under Hugh Freeze as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach after being hired away by Auburn.

One of Nix’s most notable accolades was in 2009, where he helped coach running back Dexter McCluster to become the first running back in SEC history with 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards.

Although many think Nix is content to be a life-long assistant and this may be more of a dark horse projection, it is still one worth noting given the success Nix has had at Ole Miss and if he's able to turn the terrible Auburn offense around.
