A month that featured the Early Signing Period, let's take a look back at some of SEC football's top recruiting winners from December 2023 (Recruiting rankings according to 247Sports Composite).

Mississippi State, Alabama among December 2023 SEC football recruiting winners

Mississippi State Bulldogs

December Commits:

  • 4-star QB Michael Van Buren
  • 4-star WR Mario Craver
  • 3-star WR Sanfrisco Magee
  • 3-star WR Ricky Johnson
  • 3-star S Cyrus Reyes
  • DL Kai McClendon
  • LB Marcus Ross

We begin with our first recruiting winner from December in the Mississippi State Bulldogs, who added seven commitments during the month, the most of any SEC program. Each of those seven came via their 2024 class, with this also liekly the most successful recruiting month in Starkville so far for new Mississippi State head coach Jeff Lebby.

Arguably the biggest commitment for the Bulldogs came via Michael Van Buren, who is rated a four-star quarterback out of St. Frances Academy in Maryland. Mississippi State also added another four-star prospect on the offensive side of the ball during the month in Mario Craver, a wide receiver out of Clay-Chalkville High School in Alabama.

The Bulldogs other commitments came via a pair of three-star wide receivers in Sanfrisco Magee out of in-state McComb High School in Mississippi, as well as Ricky Johnson out of Houston County High School in Georgia, while Mississippi State also added a three-star safety in Cyrus Reyes out of Taylor High School in Texas. Mississippi State also landed Kai McClendon, an in-state defensive lineman out of Gulfport High School in Mississippi, as well as a JUCO linebacker in Marcus Ross out of in-state East Mississippi C.C..
