The transfer portal has two windows each year- one in the fall semester and one in the spring. The general trend has been for the most talented players to enter the portal and select their new school in the fall transfer portal, but there is some left over premiere talent in the spring portal as well.

In 2024, a record number of 3,252 players entered the transfer portal, The number has increased each year since 2019-2020 when regulations changed to allow players to transfer as many times as they would like without having to sit out and lose a year of athletic eligibility.

As it is one of the premier conferences in college football, the SEC obtained some top tier talent either from school-to-school within the conference, or players transferring in to make the league even stronger. While On3 has it's ranking of most talented transfer portal acquisitions for 2024, I wanted to provide a list of those that will be the most valuable for their respective teams, despite their overall ranking.

Ranking the top 10 most valuable players from the 2023-2024 transfer portal.

10. Deion Burks (WR, Oklahoma)

Burks gives the Sooners a big time weapon on the outside to compliment Nic Anderson. Burks caught 47 passes for 629 yards and seven touchdowns on a struggling Purdue Boilermakers team last year. With former five star quarterback Jackson Arnold at the controls in Norman, look for Burks to build on those in 2024.

9. Cayden Green (OT, Missouri)

Green was ranked as the eighth best offensive tackle in 2023 according to On3. After spending his freshman season with the Oklahoma Sooners, the six foot four inch, 315 pound offensive lineman returns to his home state of Missouri transferring in for his sophomore season.

Green should serve as a big time anchor to help quarterback Brady Cook to stay upright and connect with receivers like Luther Burden III and Theo Wease Jr.
