8. EDGE Colin Simmons (Texas)

Simmons is the top Edge rusher in the class and signed with Texas on Wednesday after a four-month commitment where he was pretty much locked in with the in-state Longhorns the entire way. On top of being the top EDGE, Simmons ranks as the No. 13 player in the class.

Simmons is a speedy and athletic pass-rusher who can cause havoc. Simmons dominated the title game for powerhouse and UIL 6A Division 1 State Champs Duncanville (their second state title in a row). He put up 8 tackles, 3 sacks, and 1 FF in the title game victory. Simmons was named 6A Defensive Player of the Year as a junior after having 22.5 sacks in 2022.

7. QB DJ Lagway (Florida)

While there was a little bit of worry heading into the Early Signing Period, it appeared to be unwarranted as Lagway looked to be locked in the entire way as Billy Napier's talisman of the class of 2024. Lagway heads to Gainesville as the No. 3 QB in the class and the No. 3 player out of the state of Texas. He also ranks No. 10 overall in the class.

Lagway had an absurd stat-line on the year with a 72.1% completion percentage, 4,605 passing yards, 953 rushing yards, 75 total TD's (59 passing, 16 rushing), and 8 INT's. Lagway has a strong arm, and can get it done in the run game as well. He set the Texas 6A TD single-season passing TD record while leading Willis HS to an undefeated regular season and a trip to the 3rd round of the UIL 6A D2 state playoffs. Landing one of the top QB's and most talented players in the class is a big win for the Gators.
