Number 19: South Carolina Gamecocks

The South Carolina Gamecocks are off to a hot start this season with a record of 7-1.

The Gamecocks moved up two spots in the rankings after being ranked 21st last week. They began the season with a sweep over Miami (Ohio) and victories over Winthrop and Queens.

Over the weekend, South Carolina won their series against Belmont University. They won game one with a final score of 8-1. Game two got away from the Gamecocks as the Bruins win in blowout fashion, 11-2. Game three was another blowout as South Carolina was able to win, 12-1.

Dylan Brewer is off to a great start to the season as he leads the Gamecocks in batting average. Through eight games, Brewer has a batting average of .500 with two extra base hits and ten runs batted in. He also has an OPS of 1.305.

This week, the Gamecocks host Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night as they get ready for a big series over the weekend. This weekend, tenth ranked Clemson comes to Founders Park for a big three game series.
