Number 3: LSU Tigers

The Louisiana State Tigers start to the season is looking great as they look to defend their title as College World Series champions. The Tigers record sits at 7-1.

LSU stayed put in the rankings at number three. Over last week, the Tigers beat Central Arkansas, Northern Illinois twice, and split two games with Stony Brook.

Over the weekend, LSU played two games against Northern Illinois and two against Stony Brook. The Tigers did well against Northern Illinois with final scores of 10-2 and 5-2, but split the two game series with Stony Brook. Game one was an upset win for Stony Brook with a final score of 5-2, but game two went to LSU 18-10.

Paxton Kling has been one of the more consistent hitters for LSU this season. Through seven games, Kling has a batting average of .400 with one home run and five runs batted in. He also has a double and a 1.218 OPS.

This week, the Tigers head to Rice before they play in the Astros Foundation Classic. In that tournament, LSU will play against Texas, UL-Lafayette, and Texas State.
