By Baron Dionis
4th Seed : Texas A&M Aggies
The Texas A&M Aggies have been one of the top teams in the country. They were ranked number one for a few weeks, but have fell off a bit. They finished the regular season with a 44-11 record, with a conference record of 19-11.
The Aggies have some good hitters on the team, but their pitching has been absolutely dominant. Ryan Prager headlines the rotation as he has an 8-1 record with an earned run average of 2.47 in 76.2 innings pitched and has struck out 104 batters.
Evan Aschenbeck has been a big time reliever out of the Texas A&M bullpen. Through 24 appearances, Aschenbeck has a 5-1 record with an earned run average of 1.80 in 55 innings pitched and has struck out 64 batters.
Braden Montgomery has led the Aggies offense this season. Through 55 games, Montgomery has a .325 batting average with 26 home runs and 80 runs batted in. He also has an OPS of 1.232, which includes an on-base percentage of .463 and a slugging percentage of .769.
Texas A&M has been great this season and if they play their game, it will continue into the postseason. They get a first round bye, but will be watching the Ole Miss vs Mississippi State game very closely. Texas A&M will play the winner of this game.
3rd Seed : Kentucky Wildcats
The Kentucky Wildcats have been a big surprise to college baseball this season as they began the season unranked, but managed to become a top five team. They finished the regular season with a 39-12 record, with a 22-8 conference record.
Kentucky does not do anything that stands out in the conference, but they are able to just win. Their starting pitching this season has not been great, but their bullpen has been lights out. Their offense has also been quite good, but they score runs without many home runs.
