Social Media Expresses their Thoughts on Florida State's Controversial "13-0" Rings
The Florida State Seminoles finished the 2023 regular season 13-0 after winning their conference championship game.
However, due to their starting quarterback, Jordan Travis being injured late in the season, the college football playoff committee exercised their right to evaluate a team based on injuries or coaching changes that may effect the teams performance, and therefore elected to not select the Seminoles for the college football playoff, despite going undefeated in a power five conference.
The Seminoles would go on to lose the Orange Bowl to the Georgia Bulldogs 63-3. With many of the Seminoles starters sitting out the contest, this only kept the debate going as to whether or not the Seminoles should have been selected into the college football playoff.
Fast forward to 2024 and the off season is well underway. The Seminoles just provided their players with rings that say โunconqueredโ and commemorate the teams ACC Championship.
The debate again was on. The discussion this time was around whether or not this was fair to be awarded seeing as the Seminoles lost their game to Georgia.
While personally I am on the side that it is more than acceptable per the purpose, I posed the question on X (formerly known as Twitter) to SEC fans and beyond to see what they thought.

The UCF Comparison
For context around this one, in 2017 the UCF Knights self-proclaimed a national championship posting a billboard stating so within the state of Florida after they capped an undefeated season defeating the Auburn Tigers in the Peach Bowl.
Although this was a new years six win for the Knights, it was not the national championship, but they proclaimed themselves so regardless due to going undefeated, much to the debate of college football fans across the SEC and beyond.
