Tennessee Wins Game One Over Texas Tech

The Tennessee Volunteers take game one of the Shriners Children's College Showdown with a 6-2 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
AJ Russell got the start for the Volunteers today and dominated opposing batters. In 4.1 innings pitched, Russell struck out ten batters and gave up three hits, one walk, and two earned runs.
AJ Causey came out of the bullpen to relief Russel in the fifth inning. In 4.2 innings pitched, Causey struck out seven batters and gave up two hits, no walks, and zero earned runs. This shutout performance was good enough to earn his first win on the season.
Kyle Robinson was the starter for the Red Raiders today and had a decent, but not great start. In 3.2 innings pitched, Robinson struck out four batters and gave up four hits, two walks, and two earned runs. This gave Robinson his first loss on the season.
It was a scoreless game heading into the fourth inning. Cannon Peebles gets a single to fall and Billy Amick, the 50th ranked draft prospect according to MLB Pipeline, puts the Volunteers on the board with a two run home run.
In the fifth inning, TJ Pompey came up to the plate with two runners on while the Red Raiders were down by three runs. Pompey got a pitch he liked and drove in two runs with a triple, cutting the Volunteers lead to one run.
The last of the scoring for the game came in the eigth inning when the Volunteers put up three runs on a sacrifice fly-out by Bradke Lohry, a wild pitch that scored Dylan Dreiling, and a single that scored a run by. Hunter Ensley.
The final score ended 6-2 with the Volunteers first win of the season. Game two for Tennessee, in the Shriners Children's College Showdown, will be this evening against the Oklahoma Sooners at seven o'clock central time.
