After getting a ranked victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Opening Day, the Tennessee Volunteers lose game two of the season. The Volunteers lost in ten innings against the Oklahoma Sooners.

Top pitching prospect, Drew Beam, got the start for the Volunteers today and fairly well. In 5.2 innings pitched, Beam struck out just two batters and gave up seven hits, zero hits, and one earned run.

For the Sooners, Brenden Girton got the start and did decent. In four innings pitched, Girton struck out nine Volunteers and gave up three hits, three walks, and one earned run. Kyson Witherspoon came in to relief Girton and threw 4.1 scoreless innings with four strikeouts.

The first three innings were scoreless as both teams starters were pitching shutouts. Then in the fourth inning, Rocco Garza-Gongora breaks the shutout with a run scoring single. In the next half inning, Dylan Dreiling ties the game with a solo home run.

In the top of the seventh inning, Oklahoma gets two runners on base from walks and Jaxon Willits comes up to the plate. He squares to bunt and Tennesses pitcher, Chris Stamos, lays out to make a diving catch. He throws it to the second baseman who steps on second and tags the runner from first. It is a triple play.

Both teams do not score in the ninth, sending this game to extra innings. The Sooners get a rally started with a run scoring double by John Spikerman. Easton Carmichael drives in a run with a single and two more runs score on a single by Rocco Garza-Gongora.

The Volunteers fail to score in the bottom of the tenth, giving the Sooners a victory over the ninth ranked Tennesse Volunteers. Game three of this tournament for Tennessee will be against the Baylor Bears tonight at six-thirty central time.
