The Vanderbilt Commodores just added another player to their 2025 recruiting class. Three star offensive tackle, Matthew Parker, committed to Vanderbilt just a few days ago. Parker attends Jackson Preparatory School in Jackson, Mississippi.

Parker is the 72nd ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2025, according to 247 Sports. He has an excellent, projectible frame at 6'7", 295 pounds. Other notable schools to offer Parker were Duke, Florida State, Houston, and Memphis.

That is a solid group of offers, which makes the decision to commit to Vanderbilt difficult, but Head Coach Clark Lea is building something special and Parker wants to be a part of that.

What did Matthew Parker have to say about the Vanderbilt football program?

"I saw a bit of what Vanderbilt was building. They've brought in a handful of coaches with a history of turning programs around and winning," said Matthew Parker when asked what was the deciding factor when choosing Vanderbilt. "They're putting all the pieces in place and I think they'll be a top tier program in the next few years. I also like the fact that Coach K, Coach Beck, and Coach Kill have been around the game for a long time. They've seen a lot of different offenses and I;d like the opportunity to learn from them."

What does Matthew Parker's commitment mean for the Vanderbilt Commodores?

Continuing to get solid prospects like Parker is going to be one of the reasons why Vanderbilt will continue to improve and grow over these next few years. Individual prospects like Parker can bring traits to the team that are important, aside from the skill that he brings. He does not lack confidence at all.

When asked what he believes he can bring to the Commodores, he answered with, "I believe I can be a top tackle in the SEC after a few years."

Having confidence is a big thing and with his big frame, he could develop into one. He is very excited to play for this coaching staff, but that is not all he is excited for.

Parker stated, "I'm excited to go win some games. After I get on campus, I can focus on one major goal in mind, which is to get better as a team. I'm also excited to live in Nashville. I walked down broadway on my last night at Vanderbilt and I love the city."

Getting Matthew Parker to commit to Vanderbilt was very important for Clark Lea.

The Commodores class of 2025 is continuing to improve and it got signifcantly better with newly committed three star offensive tackle, Matthew Parker. This group is ranked 45th in the nation with 10 recruits.
