These SEC Quarterbacks are Among the Best in 2024

Jalen Milroe (Alabama Crimson Tide)
Held to under 200 total yards and zero touchdowns in the College Football Playoff semifinal game against Michigan, Jalen Milroe will now play for a new head coach in former Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer. In 2023, Milroe passed for 2,834 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six INTs, and completed 66% of his passes. In addition, Milroe added 531 yards on the ground and 12 more scores.

Milroe scored four rushing touchdowns in a victory over LSU, and accounted for six touchdowns in a 49-21 win over Kentucky. Against arch rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl, Milroe connected with WR Isaiah Bond on a 4th down scoring pass to secure a come from behind victory over the Tigers. How will Milroe perform in DeBoer’s offensive scheme? We shall see.
Alabama hosts Western Kentucky on August 31 to kick off the 2024 season.
Garrett Nussmeier (LSU Tigers)
Garrett Nussmeier tales over as the starter at quarterback for the Tigers after Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels was selected No. 2 overall by the Washington Commanders in last month’s NFL Draft.
Going into his fourth year in the program, Nussmeier threw for 591 yards, four touchdowns, and one INT in seven games last season. While his body of work may be small in comparison to other quarterbacks listed above, Nussmeier performed beautifully on two occasions on the biggest stages:

- Against Georgia, 2022 SEC Championship: Nussmeier came in for an injured Daniels and threw for 294 yards, two TDs, and one INT in a 50-30 loss to the Bulldogs.
Against Wisconsin, 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl: Nussmeier led the Tigers back against the Badgers, throwing three second-half touchdown passes for 395 yards and one INT to snatch a 35-31 victory away from Wisconsin.

Nussmeier is now ready to lead the LSU Tigers to their third straight 10+win season and a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff. LSU opens the 2024 season in Las Vegas on September 1 against the USC Trojans.
