Arkansas Wins a Close Opener Against James Madison
The Arkansas Razorbacks win a close opener against the James Madison Dukes, 6-4.
Hagen Smith got the start for the Razorbacks, but only pitched an inning where he gave up a three run home run. Will McEntire pitched the bulk of the game out of the bullpen. In 5.2 innings pitched, McEntire struck out six batters and gave up three hits, one walk, and one earned run. This gave McEntire his first win on the season.
Todd Mozoki got the start for the Dukes and gave up all six runs. In three innings, Mozoki struck out four batters and gave up six hits, three walks, and six runs. Donovan Burke, Jackson Logar, Hunter Entsminger, and Matt Klienfelter all threw scoreless frames in their outings yesterday.
To start the game, James Madison got back-to-back baserunners on the bases for Fenwick Trimble. On a full count, Trimble hits a three run home run to give the Dukes a 3-0 lead.
The Razorbacks answer right back with a run scoring single from Ben McLaughlin and a run scoring single from Peyton Holt.
Then in the second inning, the Razorbacks get two solo home runs from Jared Sprague-Lott and Hudson White to give Arkansas a 4-3 lead. Sprague-Lott was able to knock in two more runs for the Razorbacks with a single in the third.
The Razorbacks went on to win the game 6-4. Game two of this four game series will be this afternoon at two o'clock central time.
