Vanderbilt Wins on a Walk-off Over Gonzaga

The Vanderbilt Commodores secured a series victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs with a walk-off win. Let's recap this exciting victory for the Commodores.

The Vanderbilt Commodores picked up their fifth win of the season with a walk-off victory over the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Commodores were down three runs this game and came all the way back for the 4-3 win.

This win for Vanderbilt gave them the series victory and will look for the sweep tomorrow.

Bryce Cunningham got the start for the Commodores and he struggled. In three innings of work, Cunningham struck out seven batters and gave up four hits, four walks, and three earned runs.

Ethan McElvain was the first reliever out of the pen for the Commodores and did great. In three innings pitched, McElvain struck out six batters and allowed one hit, two walks, and zero earned runs. Brennen Seiber got the win in three scoreless innings of work with a strikeout and two walks allowed.

Justin Feld got the start for the Bulldogs and had a solid outing. In 4.1 innings pitched, Feld struck out three batters and gave up four hits, two walks, and one earned run. Erik Hoffberg got the loss out of the pen in his four innings of work. He had seven strike outs and allowed seven hits, two walks, and two earned runs.

Gonzaga got their three runs in the third inning. Donovan Ratfield hit a double that plated two runs and Jordan Hamberg grounded out to score another. After the third inning, the Bulldogs bats went silent.

Vanderbilt got their first run in the fourth inning courtesy of a run scoring double by Troy LaNeve. In the seventh inning, RJ Austin got a run scoring single to make the score 3-2 Bulldogs.

The ninth inning comes around and the Commodores are looking to walk it off. Jonathan Vastine led off the inning with a single and after a wild pitch, Jack Bulger drives him in to tie the game. Camden Kozeal comes up to the plate with one out and drives in the winning run with a single up the middle.

Vanderbilt improved to 5-2 with this victory over Gonzaga. The Commodores will go for the sweep this afternoon at one o'clock central time.
