Georgia vs. Alabama, 2018 – The 2018 national championship was one for the record books boasting what would go down as one of the most iconic plays in college football history. That play was a 2nd and 26 overtime throw from Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to wide receiver, DeVonta Smith.
After looking extremely stale in the first half, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban pulled starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts and replaced him with at that time unproven freshman, Tua Tagovailoa who had not seen any meaningful action throughout the season to that point.
The play came one down after the Tagovailoa took a sack for a massive loss that saw the Tide staring at a long field goal before the magical moment for the Tide that later became known as “Tua and 26.”
Key players for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the game included Tua Tagovailoa, Devonta Smith, Tony Brown, Najee Harris and JK Scott
Key players for the Georgia Bulldogs in the game included Rodrigo Blankenship, DeAndre Baker, Riley Ridley, D’Andre Walker and Sony Michel.
