Every year in the SEC there are breakout players and fans should expect 2024 to be no different. Last year, names like Carson Beck, Jayden Daniels, Taurean York and Jaheim Thomas burst onto the scene. This year is still up in the air, but here are some names I feel could make great strides in 2024.

Who are some SEC players that could emerge in 2024?

Donavan Green (TE, Texas A&M)

Green missed all of last season with a torn ACL after appearing in 10 games as a true freshman and catching 22 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns. In that season, Green averaged 10.6 yards per reception, which is big play ability for a wide receiver, let alone a tight end.

According to On3, the four star product out of Dickinson, Texas was ranked as the sixth best tight end prospect nationally in the class of 2022. Watch for him to showcase his talent this year as him and Weigman could have a strong connection in 2024.

Anthony Evans III (WR, Georgia)

Folks across the SEC and nationally may remember Evans III best for his 28 yard punt return against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2023 SEC Championship Game. Although Evans was kept largely under wraps by Kirby Smart in 2023, watch for the speedster to emerge as a focal point in the passing game for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2024.

Despite a deep cast of receivers, Evans’ speed will be too much to ignore in 2024. The former four star out of Converse Texas will have more than a reserve role for the Bulldogs this year as he did for most of 2023. I would say between Evans III, returning receiver Dillon Bell and transfer receiver Colbie Young being the top three, Bulldogs offensive coordinator truly has some weapons this year in Athens.
