Reader Pick ‘Em: Southbound and Down Readers Pick the SEC Games

facebooktwitterreddit

Since the beginning of the 2015-2016 college football season, the staff here at Southbound and Down has been putting together a Pick ‘Em series.  We’ve had our up and down weeks.  At our best we could have broke Vegas, at our worst we could have financed a new Caesar’s Palace.

Many of us have heard from friends, families and strangers about how much better they could be doing if they were making the picks.  While we can’t quite make that a reality, it did spark an idea.  For the first time ever, Southbound and Down readers can be a part of the Southbound and Down Pick ‘Em.

Instead of just the staff, each visitor can make their reader pick or picks using polls.  While individual picks will not make the article, the results from the reader’s polls will be included in our standings.  We’ll make polls available for all of the SEC games and you, the reader, can select the winner and whether or not they’ll cover the spread.  Then the following week we’ll update you all on how the you did in picking the games and include you in our standings.

I have to warn you, though.  It isn’t as easy as it sounds.  And to top add to that, it isn’t like we’ve been slacking on our picks.  So you know what you and your fellow pickers will be up against, here’s where we stand so far:

John:  60-15 ATS 42-33

Neal: 61-14 ATS 39-35-1

Ben R:  56-19 ATS 40-35

Andrew:  40-18 ATS 28-28

Ben M:  19-2 ATS 16-7

Ryan: 32-13 ATS  21-24

Lee 30-7 ATS 23-16

Neal is leading the way with the heads up picks and yours truly is leading the way against the spread (ATS).  If you participate, you’ll be making picks against the spread.  Take Texas A&M V South Carolina for example.  If you pick Texas A&M, you need them to win by 17 to cover the spread.  If you pick South Carolina, you need South Carolina to lose by 15 or less.  If the score differential is 16 exactly, it will be considered a “push.”

If you want to get involved and feel like you know what you’re talking about, make your picks here.  If you feel like you can hang with us, make your picks known in the comments section.  Have a perfect week?  I’ll give you a shoutout.  Talk trash and go O-for?  I’ll make sure it’s known.  So c’mon and join the fun.
