SEC Football: Upset Alerts in Week 10

facebooktwitterreddit

We are now 9 weeks in to the 2015 college football season and have seen some glorious college football.  Big wins, shocking upsets, enthralling rivalries and the release of the first 2015 College Football Playoff rankings.  We’re past the halfway point and still have some great matchups ahead.

The SEC offers the following slate in week 10:

Thursday:

#20 Mississippi State (-7.5) @ Missouri

Saturday:

Arkansas (+11.0) @ #18 Mississippi

Vanderbilt (+21) @ #10 Florida

Kentucky (+14) @ Georgia

South Carolina (+16.5) @ Tennessee

Auburn (+7.5) @ #19 Texas A&M

#2 LSU (+6.5) @ #4 Alabama

What teams should be hearing upset alerts as they prepare for their week 10 games?

More from Southbound and Down

Texas A&M?

While no one should sleep on Auburn with their level of talent, Texas A&M looked solid with the move to Kyler Murray.  Texas A&M should win this game and it’s a smart line by Vegas, as there is no way they should be a double-digit favorite.  A&M should win, don’t sound the alarms here.

Mississippi?

The 2014 breakout campaign for Hugh Freeze’s Rebels also saw them get demolished 30-0 when they traveled to Arkansas.  Are the Razorbacks that much of a matchup problem for the Rebels?  I think they are, but I also think the Rebels are more talented and find a way to win at home.  No alarms sounding here either.

Mississippi State?

Thursday games are weird and this is a strength vs. strength matchup.  Mississippi State’s offense will look to find a way to score against Missouri’s impressive defense.  With the game being on a Thursday and my personal preference for defense in a strenght vs. strength matchup, it is time to sound the upset alarms lightly.  Don’t be obnoxious like this is a guarantee, only sound the upset alarms ever so gently.  It could happen and I don’t think that many people would be surprised.

Alabama?

There is absolutely no way that Alabama should be favored by 6.5.  LSU has a claim to be #1 in the country and plays Alabama to the wire more often than not.  I know Alabama has looked dominate the last few weeks, but so has LSU.  I may be wrong, but I think Florida’s defense is better than Alabama’s.  LSU hung 35 against Florida; it was a home game.  Take away a touchdown since the Tigers are on the road and they still have 28.  I don’t see the Tide scoring more than 28 against LSU.  Sound those alarms in full.  Of all the SEC’s offerings this week, I’m taking the 6.5 point underdog.  There’s no way this spread should be greater than 2.5.
