SEC Football: Fans Pick the Games Against the Spread
Since the beginning of the 2015-2016 college football season, the staff here at Southbound and Down has been puting together a Pick ‘Em series. We’ve had our up and down weeks. At our best we could have broke Vegas, at our worst we could have financed a new Caesar’s Palace. SEC Football against the spread can be tough to crack.
After hearing how much better many of our friends, families and strangers could be doing if they were making the picks we made that opportunity a reality. We gave fans the opportunity to pick the same games we would be picking against the spread (ATS). For the first time ever, Southbound and Down readers could be a part of the Southbound and Down Pick ‘Em.
Fans made their voices known and came up with the following picks.
Texas A&M (-16) over South Carolina (incorrect)
Mississippi (-7) over Auburn (correct)
Florida (-3) over Georgia (correct)
Arkansas (-31) over Tennessee Martin (correct)
Houston (-12) over Vanderbilt (correct)
Tennessee (-7) over Kentucky (correct)

It appears as the SEC fans may have been on to something by picking only the favorites. The SEC fans were able to put together a 5-1 record ATS, which put them in pretty elite company among the Southbound and Down staff.
Here’s how the staff performed in week 10:
Neal: 5-1 ATS 2-4
Andrew: 6-0 ATS 4-2
Ben R: 6-0 ATS 6-0
Ryan: 6-0 ATS 2-4
John: 6-0 ATS 5-1
While Ben led the way for the staff and made sure a staff member finished first in the competition, the rest of us fell a bit short. The readers tied me for second and beat the three other writers who were in on the competition. Before we reveal this week’s picks, let’s update how the staff has performed on the season:
John: 66-15 ATS 47-34
Neal: 66-15 ATS 41-39-1
Ben R: 62-19 ATS 46-35
Andrew: 40-18 ATS 28-28
Ben M: 19-2 ATS 16-7
Ryan: 38-13 ATS 23-28
Lee 30-7 ATS 23-16
If the SEC fans can keep up their 5-1 pace, we are all going to be in a boat load of trouble. My money says it isn’t happening. Care to prove me wrong? Make sure to cast your vote for the following games:
