Alabama football recruits like no other program in the country and they’ve been getting excellent quarterback play recently due to the coaching of Lane Kiffin, quarterback mastermind.

Blake Sims set a single season passing record for Alabama football as a 5th year senior, his only season as a starting quarterback.  He led Alabama to an SEC Championship and appearance in the inaugural College Football Playoff.

Blake Sims was a 3-star recruit.  He had an offensive coordinator that tailored his team’s gameplan to compliments Sims’ athleticism and quick release.

Jake Coker became the second Alabama football quarterback ever to pass for 3,100 yards in a season.  He led Alabama to another SEC Championship and a national championship by defeating an undefeated Clemson Tigers team.

More from SEC Football

Coker was a 3-star recruit whose biggest offer out of high school after Florida State was Duke, followed by an offer from The University of Alabama at Birmingham.  He had an offensive coordinator who adjusted his offense for a second straight year to exploit Coker’s big arm.

Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton had a career line of 9 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.  Following the arrival of a new head coach, Crompton threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Matt Leinart is considered one of the best players in USC history.  John David Booty made an all Pac-10 team while at USC.   Neither accomplished much in the NFL after having an offensive coordinator in college who made them look like absolute studs.

What do all of these quarterbacks have in common?  They were all coached in their best seasons by a polarizing figure that many Alabama football fans were underwhelmed with when he was hired.  Each was coached by a quarterback guru.  Who?  Lane Monte Kiffin.

You can bash him for being egotistical and trashing Tennessee.  You can dislike him as a person.  I can’t stop you from that.

For a third consecutive year, Alabama football will have a new man under center in 2016.  Also for a third consecutive year, Alabama football will have a quarterback whisperer as their offensive coordinator.  We’ll break down the position battle at some point in the off season.  Actually we’ll probably discuss it multiple times.  The good news, though, is that Lane Kiffin will have them ready to play and looking like a seasoned veteran by midseason.
