SEC Football: 5 Make Heisman Odds List
5 SEC football players have made the betting odds list for the 2016 Heisman, including one in the top 3.
One thing is for sure about the 2016 Heisman ceremonies if you believe Bovada’s odds for the Heisman trophy winner. That one thing is that 3 of the 4 invitees to New York for the ceremonies will have been there a year before. The only player that will not make the return trip to New York is the 2015 winner Derrick Henry, who will hopefully be producing more Ingram-like numbers than Richardson.
The returning invitees will be Deshaun Watson (Clemson QB), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford’s
RB
offense and special teams) and Leonard Fournette (LSU RB). In addition to thaaaaaa…wait a minute.
O yeah. Somehow Leonard Fournette didn’t get invited to New York. The dude gets compared to SEC football legends in September and doesn’t even get a congratulatory invite to New York? That’s cold.

SEC football is represented on the list by two running backs, two quarterbacks and a receiver. While I fully understand that those are all key positions, it still makes me sick that no defensive players make the list. Alabama’s Calvin Ridley is the only player to make the list that does not either play quarterback or running back. Can the Heisman Trophy really be awarded to college football’s best player when so many positions get zero love?
