Robert Nkemdiche Still Can’t Figure Out Football
While some are showering praise on Ole Miss football product Robert Nkemdiche for being aggressive in rookie training camp, his recent actions prove he still doesn’t get “it.”
Robert Nkemdiche reportedly “bench-pressed a lineman already” during the Cardinals rooke training camp according to Bruce Arians as reported by azcentral.com. Nkemdiche probably expected to hear a Mark Jackson-esque “there goes that man” comment from his coaches for performing the Herculean feat. Before I explain how dumb that is, let me just say that performing a “bench-press” of an NFL offensive lineman exhibits otherworldly strength. There is no doubt he gets credit for whatever he did for Arians to describe it as such. There’s just one problem, though.

It was during walkthroughs! The poor victim that got pressed by Robert Nkemdiche haphazardly came off the ball expecting it to just be a drill. Instead he got blown up by a freak of nature in Robert Nkemdiche. While some will praise this as Nkemdiche proving he’s hungry and feels shafted after falling to the Cardinals in the draft after being projected to be top 5 pick, let’s all take a step back here.
Robert Nkemdiche showed off his strength against an unsuspecting opponent. At which part, exactly, are we supposed to be impressed? Before you answer that, take a look at Arians’ quote below:
“He was killing people in walk-through. I had to slow him down. It’s a walk-through, and he bench-pressed a lineman already.” Arians went on to say later, “If I get fined, I’m taking it out of your check (no contact is allowed during this camp).”
Congrats Rob, you pressed a dude that wasn’t ready.

You can praise or knock Robert Nkemdiche for his feat of strength. I’ll continue believing it is further proof that the guy just doesn’t get “it.” He doesn’t know when to turn the football on and when to be Merlin (go find him on twitter if you don’t catch the reference).
