5dimes has set the over/under for Kentucky football wins in 2016 at 6 – and with the odds that are given, there is so much money to be made.
5dimes and other sportsbooks really know how to entice me with odds. They’ve set the over/under at 6 wins for Kentucky football. The odds for taking the under are set at -215, basically meaning that 5dimes and other sportsbooks find that the most likely scenario by a wide margin. The odds are set at +165 for the over, which tells you they are relatively confident Kentucky won’t win more than 6 games.
The Wildcats haven’t won more than 6 games since 2009, under former head coach Rich Brooks. This will be Mark Stoops fourth year, and he’s only totaled 12 wins in his first 3 years for an average win total of 4 wins per year. His highest win total in a season while coaching Kentucky is 5 wins and he’s done that in back-to-back years. Either this is the season he breaks through, or maybe this is the season that ends his tenure at Kentucky. History says take the under.
Kentucky fans are feeling the frustration because of inconsistent performances from their beloved Kentucky Wildcats. They were a team in 2015 that performed well at home, and narrowly missed beating Florida and Auburn in Lexington. Tennessee really put it to them by winning 52-21, but that was the only truly bad performance at home. A strong backfield, strong at-home performances, and a hope that a quarterback emerges with better decision making than Towles, will all make taking the over that much more enticing. Towels departure and promises of potential say take the over.

Kentucky 2016 Football Schedule
Southern Miss – If Kentucky doesn’t win this game at home, go ahead and give up if you took the over win total. Win.

@ Florida
– If Towles could’ve gotten Kentucky into the end zone a couple of times in 2015, they would’ve beat the Gators in Kentucky. As long as anybody but Treon Harris is playing quarterback for Florida, Kentucky should lose this game. However, if Towles’ replacement has a good performance against a very strong Florida defense, there could be good signs for Kentucky surpassing the 6-win mark.
New Mexico State Aggies – Should be 2nd win of the season. Over/Under for the rest of the season at 4.
South Carolina – South Carolina’s offense will presumably resemble something only slightly better than a Vanderbilt offense, which is good news for a weak Kentucky defense. Win.
@ Alabama – Pick a Kentucky win here only if you don’t like winning money. Loss.
Vanderbilt– Kentucky again benefits from playing a weak offense. However, the stingy Vanderbilt defense led the Commodores to a 21-17 win in 2015. I expect that to be added motivation in a Kentucky home win, keeping them undefeated at home.
Mississippi State – Win. That’s right I said it. I don’t think Mississippi State will fall into the cellars without Dak Prescott, but I expect them to finish around .500. I think Kentucky wins as a home underdog in this game, and starts to build real momentum in Lexington.
Wildcat Blue Nation
@ Missour
i – I got this as Kentucky’s first win on the road and as a favorite. A loss would be understandable, but would also make me nervous about the rest of the year on the road. They should win this game.
Georgia – Kirby Smart gives Kentucky their first loss at home.
@ Tennessee – This game all depends on Tennessee’s season up until this point. If Tennessee has lost 3 or 4 games by this game, Butch Davis may not even be the coach any more, and the Vols will be a jumbled mess of talent. If Tennessee is rolling as expected, this game is going to be an ugly loss for the Wildcats. I’m taking the latter.
Austin-Peay – Win.
@ Louisville – Say what you want to about Bobby Petrino, but he fields a good football team. I expect Louisville to win this game by a wide margin.

I’ve got Kentucky winning 7 games, but honestly I don’t feel great about it. The odds are pushing me, but I feel very confident that they can get to 6 wins which would be a push. Keeping that in mind, I just can’t bet 215 dollars that Kentucky will win less than 6 games to win 100 dollars.
I think the most likely scenario is that I’m wrong about the Mississippi State game and Kentucky finishes the season with 6 wins. 6 wins would keep me at even. If Stoops finishes with 5 wins for a 3rd straight year, expect him to be shown the door. Given that extra motivation, give me the odds and Kentucky to pad my pockets with a little extra bang for my buck in 2016.
