More from SEC Football

Each year there are players from each SEC team who explode onto the scene from seemingly out of nowhere. In this slide show I will introduce you to 14 young men who you will be getting to know extremely well during the upcoming season. We will go in alphabetical order, so Alabama is up first.

Bo Scarbrough, RB, Alabama

Glen Coffee, Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry, and now Bo Scarbrough. Ever since Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa the Crimson Tide have been churning out All-American caliber running backs. Scarborough is most similar to Henry in stature. Henry was 6’3″ 238 and Scarbrough is only slightly smaller at 6’2″ 230.

What makes Scarbrough different from Henry is the way that he carries his weight. Henry was extremely top-heavy, meaning that any type of contact to his lower legs would cause him to topple over. Scarbrough is thicker in the legs, so he should theoretically be more difficult to tackle. Where Scarbrough and Henry have something in common is that both are faster than backs of their size have any right to be.

In addition, Scarbrough has soft hands out of the backfield. He was occasionally lined up at receiver during his high school career. Unfortunately, Scarbrough has had injury problems since arriving at UA. But if he can stay healthy, expect him to be one of the top backs in the SEC.
