The SEC Football season is already half way done. As conference play continues we are starting to see things clear up in regards to our power rankings. Today we will give you our Week Eight Rankings.

We’ll do the power rankings for all the SEC football teams like we did last time.  We’ll give a few reasons why they’re there, though we’ll do it in three sentences or less. The number to the right of the team’s name is their overall record, followed by their conference record, and then finally by their ranking in last week’s Southbound and Down SEC Football Power Rankings. Let’s dive in.

14. Missouri 2-5 (0-3) LW: 11

The Tigers have the worst defense in the entire conference, which is a shame because their offense is competent. Still, losing to Middle Tennessee State should be enough to get you kicked out of the conference. The Tigers are an embarrassment this season.

13. Vanderbilt 4-4 (1-3) LW: 13

It wasn’t very pretty, but the Commodores got a win this week. They’re only two wins away from a bowl game, which seemed inconceivable just two weeks ago. It’s still a long-shot, but it could happen.

12. South Carolina 3-4 (1-4) LW: 14

Jake Bentley looks to have given the Gamecock offense life. Unfortunately, the South Carolina defense looks to be regressing. The Gamecocks would need a miracle to make a bowl this season, but they are a young team.

11. Mississippi State 2-5 (1-3) LW: 12

The Bulldogs are a bad team, who are unfortunate enough to be in the toughest division in the country. Dan Mullen suddenly finds himself on the hot-seat after several successful seasons. We will see if he can weather the storm and build a better team next season.

10. Kentucky 4-3 (3-2) LW: 10

The Wildcats gutted out a close win over Mississippi State this week. The Wildcats are currently all alone in second place in the SEC East. They have no chance of winning it, but they look like a lock to make a bowl game.

9. Georgia 4-3 (2-3) LW: 9

The Bulldogs had a much-needed bye week last week. Now they have to play Florida. Do the Dawgs have a chance?

8. Ole Miss 3-4 (1-3) LW: 4

The Rebels are in free-fall right now. Can they right themselves against Auburn this week? I doubt it; the Rebels are done.

7. Arkansas 5-3 (1-3) LW: 3

The Hogs got blown out against Auburn this week. The run defense is marshmallow soft. Bret Bielema needs to find a way to fix that in a hurry.

6. Florida 5-1 (3-1) LW: 7

The Gators were off last week. Now they face their rival Georgia. If they win, then they will cement their place at the top of the SEC East.

5. Tennessee 5-2 (2-2) LW: 5

The Volunteers also had a bye week last week. Hopefully for the Volunteers, they were able to get some of their injured players healed up. They will need them if they want to have a shot at making the SEC Championship Game.

4. LSU 5-2 (3-1) LW: 8

The Tigers looked rejuvenated against Ole Miss. Leonard Fournette is back and looked dominant. We will see if they can keep it up.

3. Auburn 5-2 (3-1) LW: 6

Auburn looked absolutely dominant against Arkansas. Their defense is as good as it gets in the conference, and it looks like the offense has found itself. Expect them to get another big win against Ole Miss this week.

2. Texas A&M 6-1 (4-1) LW: 2

A&M finally got a loss last week against Alabama. Fortunately for the Aggies, they don’t play anyone as talented the rest of the year. LSU is the only real test left on the schedule.

More from SEC Football

1. Alabama 8-0 (5-0) LW: 1

The Tide rolled to a fairly easy win against the Texas A&M Aggies this week. Alabama is clearly the best team in the conference. Can LSU or Auburn stop the Tide’s seemingly inevitable third SEC Championship in a row?
