5 Auburn, 8 Mississippi State, 10 Kentucky, 11 Florida, 15 LSU, 16 Arkansas, and 19 Texas A&M all make baseballamerica.com’s top 25.

The SEC continues to display exemplary performance in collegiate athletics, and the SEC baseball teams are the latest in that trend. In Monday’s Baseball America rankings, the conference placed more teams in the top 25 than any other conference with seven.

Auburn (30-12) leads the pack at no. 5. They made the biggest jump of the week from number 10 after winning the series against no. 16 Arkansas (32-10) over the weekend. The Tigers’ offense exploded for 29 runs in the three-game series, with 26 of those runs coming on Friday and Sunday.

More from Southbound and Down

No. 8 Mississippi State (28-14) and No. 10 Kentucky (28-13) round out the top 10 for the SEC. In a series that started on Thursday and ended with a double header on Friday, the Bulldogs swept Alabama (15-25). All three games were decided by one run. Kentucky was perhaps the most impressive team over the weekend, winning the series over LSU (27-14). Kentucky’s offense was impressive scoring 25 runs over the 3 game stretch. The series dropped LSU from no. 9 to no. 15.

The no. 11 Florida Gators (27-13) won a tightly contested series against a struggling South Carolina (24-15) team. In game 3, the Gators used a 4-run bottom of the 8th to seal the victory. The Gamecocks have now lost 4 straight series in SEC play.

Finally, rounding out the SEC in the top 25, is 19 Texas A&M (28-13). The Aggies took 2 out of 3 from Tennessee (20-17).

With the NCAA tournament just over a month away, the SEC looks poised to have a handful of teams hosting a regional, and possibly a few to host a super regional. The dog days of summer are on the horizon, and SEC baseball will hopefully give us something to watch.
