We are 30 days away from college football season, and today we are going to talk about one SEC team that has absolutely dominated another SEC team.

There are very few constants in this world today. There’s death, taxes, and the Florida Gators beating the Kentucky Wildcats during football season. The Florida football program has had its’ ups and downs over the last several years, but despite everything, they always manage to beat Kentucky.

And that leads us to no. 30 on the Southbound and Down College Football Countdown.

Florida has beaten Kentucky 30 consecutive times

CFB Countdown: Gators got after the quarterback in 2016

Not only have the Gators beaten the Wildcats 30 straight times, but it hasn’t really been close. Only six of the last 30 contests have been decided by 7 points or less. In 2014 and 2015, it looked like the Wildcats may finally breakthrough.

In 2014, the Gators were vulnerable. Florida went 7-5 in what turned out to be the final year of the Will Muschamp era. The Wildcats travelled to Gainesville, and nearly knocked off the Gators. Florida needed three overtimes to beat Kentucky 36-30.

Then in a hideous game in 2015, Florida edged Kentucky 14-9. Neither team managed to gain 250 yards of total offense. Kentucky had the ball late in the game with a chance to win, but Quincy Wilson‘s interception sealed the Florida victory.

Then last season, Florida got back to their blowout ways. Trailing 7-0 in the first, Kentucky was driving deep into Florida territory before Drew Barker was intercepted by, guess who, Quincy Wilson. On the very next play, Luke Del Rio hit Antonio Callaway for a 78-yard touchdown pass. That put the Gators up 14-0 , and led them on their way to a 45-7 blowout of the Wildcats.

In the last 30 years, Florida has outscored Kentucky by an average of 24.4 points per game. The average score over that time period is 40.6-16.2 in favor of the Gators.

If the Florida football program is going to match their 2017 expectations, they’ll have to travel to Lexington in search of their 31st straight win over the Wildcats.
