Alabama Football topped the recruiting rankings for  2019. Now the Tide looks to solidify another impressive class for 2020. Here is an early look at Alabama’s 2020 recruits.

Alabama Football currently ranks as the  No.2 overall class in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Tide sits behind top-ranked LSU.

Currently, Alabama has 11 commits in the class with an average per commitment sitting at 93.15 percent.

The Tide currently has one 5-star, nine 4-stars, and one 3-star.

Top Two Commitments for the Tide

Chris Braswell is Alabama’s top recruit at this moment.

The five-star defensive end is the No. 14 overall prospect, the No. 1 WDE in the country and the No. 2 player in Maryland.

Braswell currently holds 24 offers with the latest coming from LSU on Jan. 19. He committed to the Tide on November 25, 2018,  picking Alabama over Penn State, Georgia, and a few other schools.

He is quick off the snap and naturally athletic. Braswell has a high football IQ and vision on the field. He can get into the backfield within three steps and can drop into coverage if need be.

Braswell does need to work on his move combinations, if he can do that, then Braswell will be lethal on the edge. Adding upper body strength is another thing that’ll help him at the next level.

If he continues to grow and develop, then Braswell will likely end up a first-round draft pick. The Tide got an outstanding football player in Braswell and better find a way to hold onto him.

Alabama’s other top commit is defensive tackle, Jayson Jones. The four-star currently ranks as the No. 82 overall prospect, the No. 6 DT and the No. 1 player in Alabama.

Jones currently holds 17 offers with the latest coming from Texas A&M on Feb. 18. He committed to Alabama back on July 2, 2018, and has since been a Tide lock. I don’t see him de-committing from Alabama at all.

If I had to pick a guy to stick with Alabama till the end, it’s Jones.

The four-star defensive tackle is one massive human being. At 6-6.5 and 340 pounds, he is one giant human.

Jones is going to be a plug for the defensive line. He takes up a lot of space, and it takes a really good offensive lineman even to move him. Jones does an excellent job at collapsing the pocket and has the length to tip passes.

He still has a lot of work to do, but with the natural ability, he has the potential to be developed into a monster.

Jones needs to work on avoiding stalemates at the line of scrimmage. He hasn’t quite figured out his motor yet and can be inconsistent with his speed.

Another thing he can work on is his physicality. Jones has a lot of potential and with the right development could turn into a starter at Alabama.

Bama off to Hot start already

It’s the end of February and still quite early for the 2020 class, but the Tide already has a head start on a lot of their SEC competition.

Alabama continues to host talented players from all over the country. It wouldn’t surprise me if this class didn’t add a commitment or two before the start of summer.
