It was evident early on that LSU’s size and strength were going to be a big problem for the NC State Wolfpack. The Tigers put on an aerial show in the first half, turning several offensive rebounds into resounding dunks of NC State destruction.

The Tigers went into the half leading 40-26, but NC State tried to find their way back into the game in the second half.

  • For whatever reason, LSU seemed to downshift, and wasn’t playing with the same urgency they had in the first half. Combined with some ice cold shooting, and NC State’s suddenly found touch from the outside, the scoring gap quickly closed to within single digits..and then, it was gone.

LSU head coach Johnny Jones had to be concerned when his guys were even being beaten for rebounds against a smaller lineup. The Wolfpack kept chipping away and chipping away, until they had all the momentum and all the Tigers could do was bang free throw opportunities off the back iron.

A last second shot by B.J. Anya sealed it for NC State. That was tough to swallow for the LSU nation.

And next, how did Arkansas fare against the dreaded 12-seed?
