2015 NCAA Tournament: Kentucky Wildcats Called Out By West Virginia Freshman

The 36-0 Kentucky Wildcats are the last SEC team remaining in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, and moving to 37-0 just got a little boost thanks to a foolish West Virginia player.

  • Goodness, Daxter Miles Jr., have confidence in your team by all means, and if you must talk about Kentucky then talk about how tough it is for any team to remain undefeated or how your Mountaineers match up well against the Cats.

    But don’t poke the bear.

But you did. You poked it, and you poked it with a big, pointy freshman stick.

“I give them their props,” Miles said to reporters, via ESPN. “Salute them to getting to 36-0. But tomorrow they’re gonna be 36-1.”

OK, not terribly dumb up to that point. Perhaps he should have stopped there?

    Oh, but he didn’t.

The WVU freshman accused the undefeated Cats of what he believes to be some court slothfulness, saying they “don’t play hard” and that “they should be more intimidated.”

You know, it doesn’t take more than the casual college basketball-watching fan to know that the last thing you want to do when it comes to John Calipari and Kentucky is to accuse them of not playing hard or anything even remotely close to that.

Let’s just say (for argument’s sake) that Miles is somewhat right, and that the Wildcats have been cruising and not putting forth a full effort.

    And now they do.

And now they absolutely crush West Virginia.

    Nice going, frosh.

Truth be told, the Wildcats have been playing hard, and have been challenged somewhat. But now you just gave the best team in the country a little extra incentive to use the Mountaineers as sweat rags on the court.
