More from Southbound and Down

Everyone knows that Georgia’s Uga is the number one mascot in the nation, and we all love to see the Auburn war eagles soar around the stadium, and Tennessee’s Smokey is another fan favorite. We can’t forget Reveille, the beautiful Texas A&M Mascot. Most of the SEC teams have some sort of live animal mascot who fans adore.

But what about the guys in costume…you know, the ones who put on those heavy, hot, sweaty smelling stifling costumes and get out there to cheer on and entertain fans. There are some great ones, and some that have been staples in the conference for many years. They all work hard, and they all embody their school’s spirit and passion.

So forget what Capital One says, they no nothing of mascots (John Snow). We’re going to break down the real power rankings for all of the SEC’s costumed mascot entertainers, and will settle it once and for all.

Rankings based on appearance, national recognition, and overall ability to maintain during hot early season games (as well as other factors). Go get ’em, mascots!

Note: Texas A&M currently does not field a costumed mascot, so they are exempt from rankings.
