Is Les Miles on the SEC Hot Seat?

As Les Miles enters his 10th season as LSU’s head coach, you have to wonder if he doesn’t make a run this season for the college football playoffs, will his job be in jeopardy?

There hasn’t been any real indication that Miles is in trouble, but that can all change if  LSU has another sub-par season.

You have to wonder what is going on in Baton Rouge with all that talent that LSU has had down there?

ESPN just did a huge feature on the 2011 Alabama/LSU game which had 42 players (19 from LSU) that were all drafted from each school the past three years.

But if you look closely at all who were drafted from those two games, you notice one major difference; Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was drafted, not a single quarterback from those LSU teams dating 2012 was drafted.

LSU quarterbacks have struggled under Les Miles for years and it has cost his team victories.

They can’t seem to attract many four or five star quarterbacks out of high school mainly because of the type of offense they run. Last year, LSU was dead last in the SEC in passing; DEAD LAST.

Defense doesn’t seem to be an issue for the Tigers, offense does. For all the good players LSU has produced over the years, you’d think they’d have more titles than they do.

In defense of Les Miles, the conference especially the Western Division, has gotten a lot tougher. But the coaches in that division have adjusted. Alabama coach Nick Saban hired Lane Kiffin to improve offensive production in Tuscaloosa.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahan hired Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator to improve his defense and you know what? They are the teams to beat in that division.

And with the improvements of the two Mississippi schools, Arkansas coming back up and not to mention Texas A&M, that leaves LSU seemly being left in the dust by the other schools.

LSU fans are like everyone else around the league; they expect success and if Les Miles’ team doesn’t make a run this year, he may find himself looking for a new home next year.
