College Football Playoff: Auburn

Maybe it’s a fluke, but Southbound and Down elects Auburn as SEC’s national playoff representative. Unfortunately for Auburn, football is a gridiron democracy.

Despite this, the Tigers should have the assets to make the campaign, both on the field and on the sideline.

First of all, what if Southbound and Down told you that AU headed into ’15 lacking it’s top passer, rusher, and receiver? Would you think we’re insane for picking them as the kingpin for college football’s toughest conference?

Maybe, but quarterback Jeremy Johnson isn’t your typical backup. He’s been in the system for some time and should slither into the role of Malzhan’s easier than you’d think.

It doesn’t hurt to have an NFL-ready receiver in D’haquille Williams. At running back, talented former five-star Roc Thomas already has valuable experience.

Defensively, the Tigers return nine starters from a woeful ’14 unit. Thankfully, they have a million dollar investment in new coordinator Will Muschamp

We’ll say it again, and rightfully so. It’ll come down to the ‘Bama game. See ‘ya there.
