Favorites to Play in the SEC Championship
Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports
Safer Bet?
These teams are both the favorite to win their division and have a lot of the similar pitfalls. Both teams have uncertainty at quarterback, play a divisional week 3 foe they could lose to (though they will be favored), and draw the two toughest teams from the opposite division.
The safer bet here, though, is Georgia. While they will likely split, at best, the games between Alabama and Auburn, the East is nowhere near as competitive as the West. Alabama does not get a Vanderbilt or even a Kentucky. Georgia also has the advantage of hosting Alabama for their cross-divisional matchup.
Neither of these teams is anything close to a sure thing to win their division. But if my money is on the line, I am picking the team with the easier path. Give me Georgia.
