Texas A&M: New Defensive Coordinator
John Chavis, welcome to College Station. Much like Auburn, the storyline to watch with the Aggies is the potential for Chavis to turn the defense around during his first year in College Station. This storyline is almost identical to Auburn’s. The Aggies have one of the most exciting high-powered offenses in college football, but are a decent defense away from being able to win big consistently. John Chavis consistently fielded defenses that ranked near, or at, the top of the SEC during his tenure at LSU. It will be interesting to see if the defensive mastermind can create a defense the offense can rely on. The coaching seat Kevin Sumlin sits on is not scorching hot, but it was a major move on the Aggies part to seek out and land Chavis. A failure on his end could heat Sumlin’s seat to an uncomfortable degree.
