SEC Heisman Hopefuls

1. Leonard Fournette
Don’t talk about Leonard Fournette unless you’re talking about him for Heisman. Just, like, don’t do it. He will straight up embarrass you and hang up 200 yards on you before you know it.
Darren McFadden’s rushing record of 321 yards was in serious jeopardy as Fournette had only 19 carries to tally his 228 yards and 3 touchdowns. Had LSU actually been in a close game with Auburn, that record would have been demolished. A brief little scare causing Fournette to come off of the field woke up Coach Les Miles and Fournette sat for the majority of the 4th quarter and went on to win the game 45-21, with Fournette matching Auburn’s 3 touchdowns by himself. LSU is 2-0 against 2 SEC West opponents in Mississippi State and Auburn. Against them Leonard Fournette is averaging 8.2 ypc and has 6 touchdowns on 47 carries. Seriously. Those numbers are against two SEC West defenses. And he doesn’t even have the benefit of quarterback play.
The numbers look good, but if you’re going to be mentioned for Heisman, it looks even better when you are throwing defenders off your shoulders and trucking them over on every other player. With little to no help from quarterback play, expect Leonard Fournette to be amongst the top 3 in Heisman voting this year if LSU is to make a deep run.
