SEC Heisman Hopefuls (Post Week 5)

Derrick Henry
The lights were shining bright on Derrick Henry Saturday and he relished in the moment. Georgia defenders had to be praying for the rain to stop because it seemed like it just made it that much harder to tackle this beast. Can you imagine being down 38-3 and your job is to tackle this 6’3″ 242 lb Heisman contending monster? Despite only having a long carry of 30 yards, Henry rushed 26 times for 148 yards and a touchdown. What’s that mean? That means he was doing it all game. He and the Alabama offensive line punished the Georgia defense all day. I’m not even sure punished is the right word. Alabama’s rushing performance opened up the passing lanes and they made the UGA defense look pedestrian at best. With more big games ahead, Henry’s Heisman chances will be elevated if he continues to shine like this when the lights are brightest.
