SEC Football: Fans Pick the Games Against the Spread (Part 3)
Since the beginning of the 2015-2016 college football season, the staff here at Southbound and Down has been putting together a Pick ‘Em series. We’ve had our up and down weeks. At our best we could have broke made out of Vegas like we were a part of the Ocean’s 11 crew. At our worst we could have financed a new Caesar’s Palace. Or two. SEC Football against the spread can be tough to crack.
After hearing how much better many of our friends, families and strangers could be doing if they were making the picks we made that opportunity a reality. We gave fans the opportunity to pick the same games we would be picking against the spread (ATS). For the first time ever, Southbound and Down readers could be a part of the Southbound and Down Pick ‘Em.
Fans made their voices known and came out with a 5-1 record ATS. It seemed like fans took the strategy of picking all favorites and it paid off beautifully. Readers of the site changed their strategy a bit in their second attempt, though, with mixed results. You can see their picks below or here*.

Readers were willing to pick some underdogs the second time around and picked some correctly. While not as impressive as the first attempt, ya’ll came out with a 4-3 record ATS. I do believe most bettors will take those number and ya’ll again ranked pretty solid with the staff.
Here’s how the staff performed in week 10:
Neal: 5-2 ATS 2-5
Andrew: 4-3 ATS 4-3
Ben: 5-2 ATS 5-2
John: 5-2 ATS 6-1
I was able to lead the way ATS this week, adding at least one game to my lead. My lead sits pretty slim as it stands, so I’ll take every game I can get. Neal and I still sit tied in the heads up picks thus far. Here is the update on how the staff has performed this season:
John: 71-17 ATS 53-35
Neal: 71-17 ATS 43-44-1
Ben R: 67-21 ATS 51-37
Andrew: 44-21 ATS 32-31
Ben M: 19-2 ATS 16-7
Ryan: 38-13 ATS 23-28
Lee 30-7 ATS 23-16
Fans: ATS 8-4
If the fans can keep up an 8-4 pace through bowl season, some us may get caught and passed in correct picks. Keep it up readers!
