Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott did what Leonard Fournette couldn’t and that was have an amazing bounce back game after getting held in check by Alabama.  Prescott accounted for over 550 yards of total offense and 7 total touchdowns in a 51-50 win against Arkansas.  Dak Prescott may not have a chance to win the Heisman trophy, but does he have a chance to get invited to the ceremony?

An invite still seems a little far fetched without any “signature wins” to speak of this season.  He also had a relatively slow start to the season.  With Christian McCaffrey and Derrick Henry pulling away from the pack, though, there’s not many options behind them.

For argument’s sake, lets say Dak Prescott has another game similar to the one he had against Arkansas:  500 total yards, 7 touchdowns and 1 interception.  Let’s also say the Bulldogs win a close one to finish the season with a last minute Dak Prescott score.  That would put Prescott with roughly 4200 total yards, almost 40 total touchdowns and only 4 interceptions on the year — with a completion percentage over 65 percent.

Oh yeah, he’d be the quarterback of a 9-3 Mississippi State team battling for 2nd in the SEC West that was picked to finish with a losing record and at the bottom of the division at the beginning of the year.

  • His slow start and inability to come out with a win over Alabama or LSU will be his ultimate demise, even if he does get those stats.  However, he may set himself up for a much higher draft selection if he can continue playing the quarterback position as he has in recent weeks.

Ole Miss’s sporadic defensive play makes it near impossible to predict Dak’s performance, but I think this game is going to be in the 40’s for both teams.  That will also come with both quarterbacks putting up video game numbers.  Write me down for Dak passing for 350 yards, rushing for 100 yards, 6 total touchdowns and whoever has the ball last wins.
