This week offense was the reason a lot of SEC football teams went down – I’ll take a look at the three worst of the week.  Of course, it may have been evident from how badly you wanted to flip the channel over the weekend.

Treon Harris & Austin Hardin, QB & K, Florida

– The Gators played themselves out of any shot at the College Football Playoff when they faced off with in-state rival Florida State on Saturday night.

The play of the Gators was absolutely atrocious and the defense was too tired at the end of the game to contain the Seminoles running back Dalvin Cook.

Florida’s biggest downfall though is the lack of production at the offensive end. Since they lost Will Grier to suspension, the Gators haven’t been able to operate an offense with Treon Harris at the helm.

Harris threw for 134 yards in Saturday’s loss but couldn’t find receivers for a pass longer than 15 yards.

Harris did lead a couple of Florida drives down near the red zone but it wouldn’t matter because the Gators can’t score points on offense and they can’t rely on their kicker either.

The Gators called on kicker Austin Hardin again in week 13 (after his terrible performance in week 12), to try not one but two field goals against FSU.  The first of which would have tied the game early at 3-3.

Of course as you may have predicted, he missed them both. Hardin shanked the first kick wide and his second attempt was blocked by the Seminoles.

The Gators have no chance at beating Alabama in the title game, they might as well chalk it up as a loss.

The only hope for the Gators next week is their defensive play.  The problem is that this season elite running backs like Cook and Leonard Fournette both ran for over 180 yards against the Florida defense. Derrick Henry is going to have a field day.

Texas A&M – QB Kyle Allen and their running offense

– The Aggies couldn’t get anything going on the ground against LSU and the game laid in the hands of quarterback Kyle Allen.

I bet the Aggie faithful would have rather had Johnny Football back to lead the team down the stretch.

The Aggies had a total of 92 rushing yards in the game and Allen fumbled in the red zone as the Aggies were about to score before halftime.

Allen threw for 168 yards and one touchdown in the loss to LSU while also throwing an interception.

The sophomore was held to negative yards on the ground on six attempts as well. This is the third time this season he finished the game with negative rushing yards.

Every time the Aggies looked like they were going to score, the LSU defense stepped up and flustered Allen and the Aggies offense.

If Allen could have converted on a couple of drives and not turned the ball over twice, the 19-7 game could have turned out a lot differently.

Take into account that the kicking game in this one was equally atrocious to Florida’s Hardin in week 13, as LSU’s Trent Domingue missed three of his five field goal attempts for the Tigers.

A&M finishes the season 8-4 and 4-4 in the conference while Kyle Allen keeps the starting quarterback job for now. I think Murray is the guy they need under center; we will see.

Missouri – AGAIN

– What else can be said about how bad Mizzou played offensively this season? Basically nothing I haven’t already covered, but I’ll tell you just how bad they really were against Arkansas in week 13.

The Tigers had 171 total yards in this game and scored only a field goal in the team’s 28-3 loss.

Missouri couldn’t get anything going on offense as they went one for 13 on third down and one for three on fourth down.

Quarterback Drew Lock only converted on 33 percent of his passing attempts for 83 yards and an interception.  The running game was equally as bad as four players tallied only 88 yards on the ground.

Missouri is a long, long way from where they were when they entered the SEC a couple of years ago and need to find a way to return to that high performing level again — and fast.

The Tigers finished the season 5-7 and 1-7 in the SEC, equaling South Carolina as the worst teams in the SEC East. There is not much to build on for Missouri.  If I had to point to one thing, though, it would be that they have a freshman quarterback who has a lot of time to develop.
