Ole Miss Football: Rebels Receive Boost for 2016
The last two days have been very positive for Ole Miss Football fans. With a commitment from an incoming talent and two players returning for another season, the depth Hugh Freeze is building at Ole Miss continues to grow.
With all the talk of Robert Nkemdiche and his “interesting” fall in Atlanta that circulated the Ole Miss football program over the weekend, the Rebel family is likely relieved to hear so much good news in the last two days.
The good news began rolling on Wednesday with the commitment of Greg Little to Ole Miss. Rebel fans had to be uneasy at best about the potential of landing Little after the tackle twice delayed his commitment date. While many with better contacts than myself kept pushing that Ole Miss was a serious landing area, many doubted it would actually happen.
After originally committing to Texas A&M as an incoming junior, Little reopened his commitment in July. It appeared a few months later that the Ole Miss football program would be the beneficiary of his services and he was set to announce on November 4th, his 18th birthday. That wasn’t to be.
Little pushed his announcement date to November 13th to get in an official visit with Alabama and take in the Alabama-LSU game. Little called the experience “eye-opening” according to Bleacher Report and pushed his commitment date back yet again.

Fast forward to now and the top offensive tackle/2nd overall ranked prospect (according to rivals) is committed to the Ole Miss Rebels. But the good news didn’t stop there this week for Ole Miss.
Collins Moore announced Thursday morning that had was receiving a 6th year of eligibility for 2016 after missing all of 2014 with an injury. Moore was listed as a co-started and received the school’s most improved offensive player in the spring practices before his injury. Moore didn’t really play in 2015 and may not see the field much in 2016. With Laquon Treadwell leaving, though, solid depth at WR and a potential contributor on special teams has to be welcomed with open arms by the Rebel coaching staff.
Still the good vibes kept on rolling for the Ole Miss football program, though. Wednesday afternoon Coach Hugh Freeze announced that Evan Engram will be returning for the 2016 season. It didn’t seem that Engram had the type of 2015 that would lead him to declare for the draft early. After requesting his draft grade, however, many wondered if Engram (an intriguing NFL prospect) might actually leave.
The fact that Engram has chosen to return likely earned a big sigh of relief from Freeze and his coaching staff.
What started as a horrendous week for Ole Miss football has turned out to be quite a positive one.
