14.  South Carolina

The Gamecocks lost their coach midseason and failed to impress all season.  After an impressive win against North Carolina to begin the season, the Gamecocks won only twice the rest of the season.  South Carolina began the season with 6-6 being a worst case scenario.  Instead they won only one game in the SEC and finished 3-9.

13.  Missouri

Poor Gary Pinkel.  His last season as the head coach of the Mizzou Tigers saw him win only one SEC football game with one of the best defenses in the country.  His 7th ranked defense (nationally) was paired with a Mauk-less offense that finished 125th in the nation.  It was tough to watch Pinkel and his Tigers struggle offensively all season.

12.  Kentucky

What in the world happens to Kentucky?  For the second straight year Kentucky have won at least 4 of their first 5 games and ended the season without a bowl appearance.  Mark Stoops has been a disappointment thus far, as his defense ranked 59th in the country.  Pairing a mediocre defense with the 89th ranked offense definitely is not a key to success.

11.  Vanderbilt

Yes Vanderbilt only won 4 games compared to 5 for some of the teams they are ahead of.  But the only team they lost to in that group is South Carolina and I don’t think anyone thinks that result would repeat itself at this point.  Head coach Derek Mason has made the Vanderbilt defense legitimate (28th nationally); the offense keeps this team with the bottom feeders (117th nationally).

Yes.  The SEC East is that bad.  While the entire SEC West went to bowl games, all 4 bottom feeders were from the SEC East and stayed home during bowl season.
