2.  Ole Miss

The LandShark D of Ole Miss let the Rebels down big time in 2015.  Chad Kelly and the offense, though, hit a record highs for Hugh Freeze during his tenure leading Ole Miss.  Bad losses against Memphis and Arkansas kept Ole Miss out of Atlanta for the SEC Championship and could have kept them out of  the College Football Playoff had they been able to reach it.  No one wanted to play the Rebels to close 2015, though, as Ole Miss dominated their rivals LSU and Mississippi State before dismantling Oklahoma State.

1.  Alabama

A trend developed through these power rankings.  Many teams ranked ahead of teams who beat them in the regular season.  But that is what happens when, in this case, one team fails to lose another game and the other loses 3.  Alabama has won a Heisman and College Football Playoff game since falling to Ole Miss in the third week of the season.  Their defense ranks 1st in defensive efficiency.  I think they’ll take those accomplishments, and a National Championship, over a single victory against Ole Miss.
