Big Blue Nation, happy 29th SEC Tournament Championship!  Can you believe next year will be your 30th?  They say the 20’s are the best times of your lives, but I’m sure you’re looking forward to your 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

By now, SEC Tournament Championships have to be like birthdays to Kentucky fans.  The only difference is…well.

Kentucky fans don’t care.

Kentucky fans like to win.  Kentucky fans like to win every tournament they enter.  Kentucky fans like to when conference championships.

Kentucky fans love winning National Championships.

Think about it.  Last year when they were going for an undefeated season, everyone was discussing if a loss in the SEC tournament would be a good thing going into the National Championship.  Seriously, if this were Mississippi State, would we be discussing whether or not they should take an “L” to help build character?

No, surely we would not entertain such foolishness.  Then again, surely Mississippi State isn’t Kentucky.

More from Southbound and Down

I mean no disrespect to Texas A&M.  They have had a fantastic season and head coach Billy Kennedy has earned every penny, if not more, of the 5-year extension he recently signed.  Just like Mississippi State isn’t Kentucky, Texas A&M talent isn’t Kentucky talent.  Texas A&M can win this game, and it will come down to their hustle and a few bounces going their way.  In the end, I believe Jamal Murray and SEC POY Tyler Ulis will lead Kentucky to a victory 82-77.

There will be cake to celebrate Kentucky’s 29th SEC Championship.  It will be a great time, and please remember to throw away your plastic plates on the way out.  Sorry, no champagne.  Big Blue Nation has the bottle saved to celebrate their 9th.
