Arkansas: Red-White Spring Game

2015 Attendance: 41,220
Last year was supposed to be the year for Arkansas, and this year expectations are somewhat lower. The team is going to have plenty of holes to plug on the offensive side of the ball. They lost an All-American tight end and guard from the offensive line. They lost their All-SEC running back. The SEC West theme of quarterback mystery continues here as Arkansas is left wondering how to replacing All-SEC quarterback Brandon Allen.
With the defensive side of the ball returning most of it’s key factors, all eyes will be on the offense and how Bret Bielema calls the plays. Often times, Arkansas’s tendency to attempt too many passes seemed to baffle fans and analysts alike. Without Brandon Allen at quarterback, what will the play book look like? Reports have Brandon Allen’s little brother Austin Allen leading the competition. They do have a 2016 stud signee coming in after the spring, and his name is Cole Kelley. He is 6’7″ and 235 pounds and will be immediately commanding consideration for play time. It’ll be interesting to see if Austin Allen’s knowledge of the playbook and previous time served will be enough to help him secure the position this spring.
Maybe Bielema will grace us with his smooth communication skills after the game. If so, that’ll be something to watch, for sure. You never know with that dude, and I like it.
