SEC Football: Which New SEC Coach will Thrive Most in Year One?
#2. Will Muschamp
While Muschamp may have come in first in the New SEC Football Coaches Power Rankings, I have a feeling he’ll be making a face similar to the one above quite a bit in 2016.

Steve Spurrier ranked in the middle of the pack for recruiting in terms of SEC football coaches during his time at South Carolina. The Ole Ball Coach made it work for a while, even appearing in an SEC Football Championship Game. His lackluster recruiting over the last several seasons caught up to his program, however, leading to Darth Visor to walk away from his team.
Muschamp, known as an ace recruiter during his time in Florida, wasn’t able to make a huge impact on the 2015 class. He did a good job of building on class that was left in shambles, but it still ranked 9th in SEC football.
South Carolina’s income from their athletics is in the Top 20, though, so Muschamp will have the necessary funding to help him and his coaching staff turn things around. It will take some time, but Muschamp may be able to build on the success of Spurrier over the course of 5 years.
Muschamp will get the most out of his defense, which has never been a problem for Coach Boom. The offense Spurrier left, though, is in shambles. Muschamp brought back Kurt Roper to help with that, who he has worked with before. I’m a Roper fan and think he will get the job done…as long as he gets a second year on the job.
