Did the media miss out on any other A&M players for All-SEC?

Five Texas A&M football players made the preseason All- SEC, which was voted on by the media. The players are as follows:

1st team – Christian Kirk WR and Myles Garrett DE

3rd team – Ricky Seals-Jones WR, Avery Gennesy OL, and Armani Watts DB

Christian Kirk and Myles Garrett were the obvious choices from Kevin Sumlin’s squad, with one being a potential number one overall draft pick in the NFL.  The Other?  He’d arguably be the most explosive wide receiver in the conference.

More from Texas A&M Aggies

For the third team, Ricky Seals-Jones is a physically imposing wide receiver with sticky hands. Aggie fans are still hoping for Seals-Jones to peak as a college wideout, and the media believes this is his season. Avery Gennesy is the veteran of the offensive line and new offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone will lean on his experience to mend holes in the line. Armani Watts was the leading tackler for the Aggies last season and — with a nose for the ball that he has — it could easily be repeated.

We know what the media thinks of from their All-SEC Preseason squads.  But what Aggies did they overlook when making their All-SEC crew?  Which players could we see slide into these teams by the end of this season?

Trevor Knight – QB

An offense is typically centered around the output of the quarterback, and Texas A&M is no different. Knight could end up on one of these All-SEC teams by using the slew of weapons the Aggies have that rivals the United States’ military. Also, the third team is wide open with Trevor Knight’s main competition being LSU’s Brandon Harris.  Welcome to the quarterback depth of the SEC.

Daylon Mack – DT

The SEC is and always has been a conference that is determined by the line of scrimmage.  Out of necessity, then, the  defensive lineman are the best in the country.  Daylon Mack fits that mold. Mack has extremely good off the line instincts with speed to catch a shifty running back in the backfield. The Aggies’ defensive front could be the best in the SEC at the end of the season, and Mack would be a huge cog in that machine.

Josh Reynolds – WR

Another offensive weapon makes the list for the Aggies in Josh Reynolds. He is a great route runner with a lengthy frame and a knack for just coming down with the ball. Christian Kirk will get a lot of attention from SEC defenses this season, which could allow more one on one matchups for receivers like Reynolds.

Daeshon Hall – DE

Hall not making the preseason All-SEC team speaks more to the depth of the defensive line in the conference than his talents on the field. It was a really hot start to last year for the end opposite of Myles Garrett, but was not sustained. With Daeshon Hall’s draft stock being so dependent on this season, it could be a huge season for Hall and the Aggie defense.
