This past Thursday and Friday, Florida held their annual QB and Friday Night Lights camp.  What exactly went down?

Stars and recruits came from across the country to compete, practice and get better at the Florida Gator’s camps this week. Some players even took to twitter on saying they wish they could come but couldn’t, so it was pretty successful event for the Florida Gators. A lot went down as the Florida Gators handed out some offers to some new recruits, jumped higher on some players boards and landed a commit.

3-Star LB James Houston Commits To Florida

Let’s start out with the easiest and shortest of them all.  The Gators racked up their 11th commit of the season so far in James Houston from American Heritage. Houston has good size and mobility but is coming off of an ACL injury from this past spring. The good news is Houston had the same Doctor as 4-Star Florida Gators target and teammate Marco Wilson had.  Wilson hasn’t seemed to miss a step so Houston shouldn’t either. Houston gives Florida some extra LB depth, which can allow them to pursue some big time targets. It also helps the Gators charge in landing a commitment from aforementioned American Heritage CB Marco Wilson.

New Offers And New Targets

More from Florida Gators

Like any camp, some players emerge as new targets for certain programs. It was no different for the Florida Gators. At the QB camp, Florida extended possible offers — barring commitments and further impressions — to two Class Of 2018 4-Star QBs Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Artur Sitkowski.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson, or ‘DTR’ as they call him, is a Dual-Threat QB from touted private school Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He doesn’t get as much first team action as many would like as the primary starter for Gorman is 4-Star QB Tate Martell. Martell is currently committed to Ohio State.

Sitkowski is also a 4-Star QB — as previously mentioned — but prefers to stay in the pocket and is more of a ‘Pro-Style QB. I also had Sitkowski answer some questions in a column you can check out on this site.

2018 targets Tre Douglas, George Takacs and Trey Hill also picked up offers. Douglas is a 6-2 corner from Georgia, Takacs a 6-6 tight end from Naples, FL, and Hill a 6-4 333 pound OT from Georgia as well.  All of these players are drawing interest from the Florida Gators and many other schools.  Takacs is your prototypical do-it-all tight end with incredible size and Douglas is a Torrian Gray ‘lanky’ style corner. Hill is a do it all OL who seems to be already polished at a young age.

I got to sit down with Douglas and Takacs and ask them a few questions like I did with Sitkowski. You can check out what they had to say by clicking on the links below.

Florida Closing In On Two Top Recruits

Florida had a ton of talented players show up to the camp, established and unestablished. Two of the established stars being 4-Star WR Jerry Jeudy and 4-Star RB Adarius Lemons. Lemons is currently committed to UNC, but the word is we could see a flip to the Gators soon. Jeudy, on the other hand, is torn between Alabama and Florida.  Editor’s Note:  As of 7/28/16 Jerry Jeudy has commited to Alabama.

Lemons is an in-state, Florida recruit and a running back — which means he has talent. Adarius stands at 6 foot 195 and can really do it all. He can come out of the backfield, has great speed, runs well and doesn’t go down easy. He also has great vision — something you don’t find often in younger backs. As of 7/24/16 Adarius Lemons has officially flipped from UNC to UF. Florida gets their #1 RB and the #1 RB in the state of Florida.

Jeudy isn’t the highest ranked receiver in the nation, or even in the state of Florida but if you saw him play last night you would think he was.  The quarterbacks of the Florida Gators could use Jeudy on their roster.  The WR from Deerfield Beach, FL is known for his quick feet, good hands and impressive route running.  I’m sure you can find clips and videos of him shaking defenders all over the internet and they will all wow your eyes. In a very good WR class, he is currently the 6th ranked prospect — even though he is ranked the 35th best player in the country according to 247 Sports.

Two 5-Star Class Of 2018 Recruits Tweet Nice Things About Florida

5-Star #1 All-Purpose Back Ricky Slade Jr and 5-Star #1 ILB Teradja Mitchell had some nice things to say about the Florida Gators. Those things can be seen in the tweets below.
