The Amway Coaches Poll has been released and includes 6 SEC football teams.  We take a look to play high or low with the SEC football teams ranked in the poll.

For those that are unfamiliar with ‘high or low,’ it is a very simple and fun concept.  In a nutshell, one tries to identify if a team’s ranking is too high or low based on their perception of how that team will perform in the upcoming season.  I’m only one opinion, so feel free to make your thoughts known in the comments section below.

Again, we’ll be using the 6 SEC football teams that are ranked in the poll.  You can find the full list here.

#1 Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama has to replace their quarterback again.  The difference, though, is this one of the most inexperienced backfields during Saban’s entire tenure.  Those question marks would justify putting another team atop this season’s poll, but the Tide have been too consistent to put them anywhere else.

Verdict:  No change

#6 LSU Tigers

LSU will always be a force to be reckoned in SEC football under Les Miles.  I think they’ll be a bust this season, however.  I have zero faith in the quarterback situation or in Cam Cameron to fix it.  The Tigers will win 8, but that won’t be enough to finish in the top 6.

Verdict:  High (severe)

#10 Tennessee

This is a tough one.  Do I think the Volunteers are the 10th best team in college football?  No.  Do I think their schedule will allow them to win 9-10 games?  Absolutely.  If they played in the SEC West, I’d rank them in the top 20, but nowhere 10th.

Verdict:  High (slight)

#12 Ole Miss

This one is tough for a different reason.  I do think Ole Miss is one of the 12 best teams in the country.  I also see a brutal schedule that could see them lose to 3 teams that rank inside the top 16 in the season’s opening month.  If that happens, I wonder how the Rebels would respond after such high expectations.

Verdict:  Low (slight)

#16 Georgia

Kirby Smart is no stranger to SEC football, although his experience is largely in the SEC West.  He’ll be able to guide Georgia talented roster to a top 15 season, partially due the weakness of the SEC East compared to the SEC West.

Verdict:  Low (slight)

#25 Florida

Florida managed to play in the SEC Football Championship Game last season while playing the second half of the season without a quarterback.  I have my doubts, but their defense is monstrous.  They won’t be #1, but their final ranking will begin with that number.

Verdict:  Low (severe)
