Kendall Sheffield Transferring from Alabama
There were rumors yesterday that Kendall Sheffield was leaving Alabama. Nick Saban did nothing to quell them in his evening press conference. He said that Sheffield had been absent from practice for a couple of days, but he was welcome to rejoin the team when he was ready.

Sheffield evidently elected not to rejoin, as Saban granted him his release today. He is free to transfer to any school not in the SEC. Sheffield was a former 5-star recruit who was likely displeased at being passed over for reps by younger players in Fall Camp.
Alabama still has depth at cornerback, it is just a little less experienced than it was at the beginning of August. Alabama should be fine barring injury. Marlon Humphrey and Minkah Fitzpatrick are both studs at corner. But if the worst should happen, the Tide may rue the losses of Sheffield and Maurice Smith.
